Despite the fact that Alganon has eliminated subscription costs and will re-launch again April 8, 2010, the game from Quest Online may have already doomed itself.
Former President of Quest Online Dave Allen and 2 others Jason Blood and Hue Henry were fired and Derek Smart is the new President. His first major statement was a post on the official forum that carried much foreboding and whether he intended it or not summed up the potential future doom of Alganon:
“As a game developer, I know all too well that if your game is not finished and you release it, thats just asking for trouble. No matter how great the game and technology are, it can and will fail. Especially in this industry climate. The average gamer is as finnicky as a hummingbird on acid, with a very short attention span and a penchant for being largely unforgiving. In other words, pulling a stunt like that is the death knell for many a game and company………………
The below video is hilarious. It features Francis who is a World of Warcraft player pissed off at the difficulty of the Ice Crown Citadel. He is also a huge Star Trek fan and he is also pissed off at the timeline conflicts in Star Trek Online.
What is more dangerous than a Trekkie or WoW fan? A WoW Trekkie. You just don’t mess with them.
The below video is about 4 minutes long and he shares his rant with beautiful precision. Check it out below…..
Dear Runes of Magic Team & Frogster Interactive,
We at Online Massively Multiplayer.com have received over 160 (one hundred and sixty) comments complaining about the Runes of Magic download, installation, and patch process. The Runes of Magic download and patch process sucks. It is painfully slow and a source of frustration and anger for many who want to play the otherwise great free-to-play Runes of Magic MMORPG.
In fact, Runes of Magic is our #1 Top 10 Free MMORPG. But the patching & upgrading process is particularly terrible. Your potential solution of using BitRaider Streaming has not been implemented and does not fix the overall problem. You are loosing customers and turning away willing gamers with this horrible failure of a process.
Your players are actually turning to torrents, file sharing, and download sites and many of these are being infected with viruses and trojans. This is a great disservice to them. Below are a few comments from our readers highlighting that point………..
We have written frequently about the Age of Conan massively multiplayer online role playing game. Interest in the game has been on the decline and Funcom recently layed off 20% of their Staff. That is why we were a little bit surprised to see that MMORPG.com named Age of Conan the most improved game of [...]
A few months ago in response to the announcement that Funcom was creating a Java Based MMORPG, I wrote a post that basically said that Java sucks for video game design. It doesn’t take a genious to see that the only thing Java is good for is mobile game design because it temporarily doesn’t matter [...]
We have written before that LAN Parties Suck. And it is true. But that did not stop over 300 gamers from attending LANFest 2009 in California in July and other upcoming lan parties. They claim they like the friendship and food. Intel sponsored the LAN Fest event. Over twenty thousand dollars in prizes were given [...]

The word is that 38 Studios is looking for an additional $50 to $100 million dollars for their first massively multiplayer online role playing game code named Copernicus. Wow $100 million more? It just blows the mind sometimes to see how much it takes to develop a new MMORPG in terms of cost alone. Copernicus [...]
A while back we wrote that the Stargate Worlds MMORPG was dead due to massive financial trouble for Cheyenne Mountain and an Exodus of the Stargate Worlds Employees as well as legal trouble and bad timing. The news section still hasn’t been updated since May 26, 2009 and Cheyenne Mountain has not updated their news [...]
