It turns out that Cities XL is not really a multiplayer game afterall. Monte Cristo announced today that they are cancelling the multiplayer features for this re-make of Sim City. The Planet Offer subscription service which includes the multiplayer features will be cancelled on March 8, 2010.

Monte Cristo indicated that not enough players purchased the subscription with multiplayer features so it will be shut down. Such a dissapointment. The official release was titled “The end of cities XL”.
