1. You have to use money to make money, i.e. the cost of ammunition etc. This is balanced so that more powerful weapons will cost more to use, in other words, easier to make a kill but more costly to do the same. This is balanced against how much damage is required so that you will on AVERAGE make less that it cost to make the kill.
This balance is at about 60-80% return based on the current economic status of the game. Mindark Tweaks this continously to peak interest when people are starting to complain or – to be more precise – when their spending patterns are in decline.
The balance is set to be between 0.5USD and 1.5USD per hour played. This can be read at MA’s own site.
However, since the game corrects based on the current state of the economy servers, there is no way to “break the bank” the game autocorrects the feeds to the players so that their rate of return never drops below the currently set limit.
This is why HUGE rewards can be seen at times when the game is very active, especially with new players who are on average less knowledgeable in where and when to spend their money in game. This creates a large pool that is disbursed to players. However, the game is smart enough to withold parts of these spikes in spending to create an extra pool when the game is in decline.

2. As stated above; The excess is pooled so that there will be room for an occasional 100% and above return, which is what makes people think that you can make money playing it. However, the money made is still on average less than the money used. This is much like any Casino. The house has the advantage, withe the distinct difference that MindArk can change the game at any given moment without the players being aware of it. (think of it as a blackjack dealer who gets to deal you whatever card he wants, and you don’t get to see him do it.)

3. The servers contain information based on each avatars spending into the game, and uses a program that will create “hits” for players who have expressed spending characteristics in the past that are now starting to reduce their spending. Consider this to be the “perks” of any casino in Las Vegas, where they give high rollers access to perks. In EU, the perk is that when you are starting to lose interest, you will start to make money for a while, until you are hooked again.

Finally, the company WILL cancel any account of a player who speaks out against them. I.e. if you voice dissaproval of their produce they will simply lock your account and take whatever money you have deposited. This is in their End User Agreement.
This is why MA does not have forums on their own sites. They can’t afford to have people on their servers voice their concerns, simply because there are too many. Even freestanding forums are under strict rules from MA, where they can not allow negaive posts, or MA will no longer link to them form their site. Placing the monitoring of disdain on another site and their moderators at no cost to MA.

Lets not forget that MA’s president Jan Welter Timkrans has been indited for fraudulent business practises more than once in other ventures….
He sold a substandard vessel to the swedish road authorities to be used as a ferry for instance. And every time he has gotten off scott free.
Also, MindArk PE is a new company that was created because MindArk Banckrupcied in order to avoid a huge lawsuit for using Pirated Software in the creation of this “game”.

All in all, a shady company… one that i will stay well away from in the future.

The current ubers have own items worth RL fortunes..many of them never depostied or did so modestly…so how the hell they got scammed s beyond me.
Likewise, anyone playing now can’t be scammed…there are no promises of rishes in EU, there is a very vocal and critical community on the largest forum to warn of anything untoward, and last but not least…most people involved have some COMMON SENSE>

Personally I haven’t logged on much since the latest mods…not keen on them because they changed the whole place in a way I have yet to get used to. Because I don’t like it much doesn’t make me trawl the web spouting BS like a baby though, many people enjoy the changes and the game as much as before.

It’s not only going to be around for years, it’s growing and when the new planets launch and other large companies get involved properly it could be awesome.

One thing I love about EU with all it’s faults…it’s not full of whiny kids, it’s full of really bright mature and intelligent people. PEople who can make a decision what to do with their own hard earned money IMO.

The new planets could hurt this long term IMO, but that’s yet to be seen…I’m sure a lot of CP users will want to go visiting them though. Especially the Lemmy /Motorhead one.

oh Btw Agis your calculations makes it a payback of 5 years for CP. It’s pretty decent, but given that the economy is a bit slow lately, you can easily double these figures very soon with the bunch of people that will come in with the marketing generated by this sale

Now Buzz Lightyear has bought Crystal Palace Space Station – Probably the most popular hunting places in Entropia Universe having approx 70 hunters per DAY hunting in the domes , at 4% tax, people hunt up to 14 hours on CP at a single time, it has unique monsters and easily one player would kill an average of 50 mobs per day with a ped turnaround of 3ped MINIMUM per mob (0.30US cents) x 50 x 70 = 10500PED PER DAY (1050 USD) at 4% tax rate earning him 42 USD per DAY (and thats not including MINIS (10-20ped+) , GLOBALS (50+) , HOFS (250+),approx (according to entropia tracker) average loot just in GLOBALS & HOFS (50+) is 17681 PED per DAY on Aurli Monster and 7074 PED per DAY on Kreltin Monster = 24755PED (2475USD) at 4% tax is 99USD per DAY on AVERAGE, so add 99USD+42USD = 141USD per DAY on AVERAGE , on New Years Day he had hunting revenue just in 50ped and above loots of 35633 (3563USD) so sitting on his ass doing nothing on new years day he made 142USD + 42USD = 184 USD – Note this does NOT include any MINIS (10-20PED LOOTS) but we will say that can be for fertilizer cost is the only expenditure, also revenue from selling 30 player owned stalls as well.

So thats just based on averages so his weekly salary just for sitting on his ass doing nothing is a MINIMUM 987USD – Not Bad Huh !, not to mention event tickets , players hiring the domes for events, and a bonus for the ATH (All Time Highs) that get looted (someone got a 87000ped aurli during the time the palace was up for auction) say that happened again theres another 300USD just for that one loot !
