Are expectations for the new AION Online MMORPG too high? NCsoft Managing Director Véronique Lallier revealed that over 300,000 pre-orders have been sold for the AION massively multiplayer online role playing game. The game is set to launch September 22, 2009 in the United States and a few days later in Europe (the 25th).
But How Far Will Beautiful Graphics and Wings Alone Fly With Players
The gameplay has been called grindy at best, and downloading the Aion patches and client itself is still horriffic. Can the beautiful graphics and wings alone make the AION Online MMORPG fly with players?
Apparently so. At a minimum of $49.99 a pop, over 300,000 pre-orders gives the company almost $15 Million to make content and gameplay improvements ($14,997,000). Add in monthly subscription fees of $14.99 after the first month and that is a potential revenue of $4.5 Million and a total of almost $70 Million in the first 12 months.
Hopefully NCsoft can make any necessary changes to retain their valued customers with that kind of cash. Check out the below high definition gameplay video.
