It was only in July of 2009 that Free Realms had reached 5 million accounts. Sony Online Entertainment has now announced that the free to play Free Realms massively multiplayer online role playing game has now reached 8 million registered accounts.

President of SOE John Smedley said: “Free Realms is more than just a virtual world for our players; it is a portal for imagination. A place where players transform their house into a jumping maze for friends to compete or a petting zoo that boasts all their pets. Our job as developers is to listen to and predict what they want and give them the tools that inspire and compel them to share their experiences with eight million others.”

Free realms has continued to add new features and will be celebrating a Festival of Hearts for Valentines Day. The Free Realms MMORPG currently has the #2 spot on our list of Top 10 Free MMORPGs and (a slightly less notable honor) has been nominated for Best New Social/Online Game for the Game Developers Choice Awards.
