I find it ridicules to expect people to pay to play on a PC. Most new games are being developed on X-Box,Wii and Playstation. How could corporations expect to draw people back to a decent PC game when you have to fork out 15-30 bucks a month for the priveledge to play a game? They do not even give the option for single person play without connecting, which seems a bit greedy.

I played this game from Beta.
It is easily one of the poorest supported games I have ever played. Give it a chance hheheheh. Sadly I did wasted lots of subs.
Left came back still one of the poorest games I have ever played.
Any changes to the game will not help. This game is not interesting. Games with unique game-play or great quests stories etc are winners this is a loser.
Its all about choice but if you bury your head in the sand and don’t try other games you might think this is a top game …its not.
I have played about 50 On-line games and still sub about 4. I would never sub this game again its extremely poor.
Graphics are important but not essential, this game is only graphics.
As I have a really top end P.C and net connection these problems were not problems for me…but.
I tried the game out on the high end not standard specs Funcom suggested as I have 10 computers. The game failed miserably. Improved the game recently…. not true its a poor game. Ignore me if you wish but I am being honest.

aoc is good now the last pach 1.5 balance pvp and item gear the graphic is great and a big expansion pach is incoming !!!, maybe wow suck totaly like a warhammer online only kid play wow.

ht ecomputer might be an issue but 1-have you see the freaking graphics? lol i love that( and never seen it before in other game btw) and let me tell you that going thru tortage is more fun than going to a waste land and killing pigs and pigs and pigs and pigs… i played wow for 3 years i wish AoC came out before so i could stick with it, btw the last update(yesterday) changed lots of things and now is even better, give couple years to the game and willl be much better than other games in which you see the same content on each expa.

oh please AOC is not dying! i do agree on the first 20 levels are 10/10! and once you leave tortage there isnt much a stright line to goals and leveling but thats the fun of the game is challenging, if you cant stick at the game cause you got bored then you havent made it to level 40+ or you havent joined a very good guild.. truth is AOC gets my 10/10 and its mature content and graphics are much better than WOW’s cartoony thing they got going on.. all in all i think AOC is amied for the more mature players while WOW is for all age ranged.

I was in the average age range for AOC, which was posted at about 29. I started playing the game about 2 months after release, and had a pretty good time. Yes, there were problems, but I looked past them. Why? Because, WOW is like playing a crappy Saturday morning cartoon, and I’m thirty now. Unfortunately, I wont grow up and stop playing video games , so I have to find a game that’s themed more to my age range. Growing up I enjoyed the Robert E. Howard fantasy as much as I did Tolkein, and to the games credit; a lot of the quests revolve around fictional historical accounts in the novellas. If the game was centered around the teenage mutant ninja turtles however, the bugs and bad attitude of the first game director would have sent me running. My point is…..creating a good atmosphere and choosing good lore for a game is 50% of the battle! Even if you have to steal it from a dead momma’s boy like Howard.
To end, I’m going to revive “Sequal” the level 60 Stygian Necromancer…No matter how nerfed or overpowered he may be. Well, at least for 7 days…:)

I must say that … ITZ AMAZING! Simply.

I am looking at all the opinions posted here. I know at least the same number people who are complaining of AoC that are satisfied of the game itself.

Who played daily the other games (likw WoW, Dark Age of Camelot, other similar MMORPG) should remain playing there, because these kind of players clearly confront their old experience (for them wonderful) with a new experience.
It happens that following: you know what you are losing, you don’t know what you will find… that’s the motto guys.

people tell about the game being buggy and thing but seems like after a year out it just works great.i tried many and this is what i like the most, actuallly many people is going back to the game

AoC was the most fun I have ever had. I was an active member of the biggest guild on our server and made many lifelong friends. The only thing that I didn’t really enjoy on the PvP server was the serial gankers who would be level 80 and actively hunt the low level characters.The guild decided that Warhammer was where they wanted to be so we left en mass. I gave Warhammer a really good go for a while, but just couldn’t get into it, so with real life commitments and no real love for the game, I left.

Lately though, I have been missing the world of Hyboria and have a burning desire to return. Time and commitments are still a factor, but will try and make time for it. It’s funny how many of the people I have spoken to have made comments about Tortage (starting point in AoC) being the best part of the game. I absolutely hated it and could not wait to get out of the place. That is my only real deterrent in going back. But I suppose that we have to take the good with the bad. I just hope that if I do return, they stick with it as I personally thought it had so much potential, if only they had listened to what we had to say, the game would have been legendary.

have to add that in now im level 58 an it is getting better and better, the game is just that great or the idea the developers have about it that they continue improving everything on it.
soon it will be just awesome, try it and pay at least one month and when you hit 40+ u will see incredible places, history and more fun

Hi, I have played AOC for some time now, there is some reasonable arguments above “not the ones claiming this is a wow clone, you have to remember every mmo borrows its framework from another”. In my opinion this game is very fun and I love game company’s that do not try to follow the norm. Alot has changed and the coming 1.05 patch will fix many bugs and game mechanics.

There is a free trial setup now, please try this out after 1.05 and give this game one more shot, after that if it is still not for you then it’s not for you.

In the mmo world it is so hard to rate it with the consent changing of the mechanics and world.

hi all

as an old wow player and always cleared the end content( except tier3) i just got tired of the same, clear everything, having the best gear, weapons even for off-spec, having lots of gold and mats and pets,all in a short period of time and mounts and a cartoon look.
i have nothing against wow but think…

1-if wow was your first online game it was released like 5 years ago and remember how it was?( and cant compare since both games are different class of game)
it( wow) looked like shit and there were not that many instances, AOC brought more end content and AOC has less than a year since the released time.
avery said a very true thing, the game is really cool if you are the kind of person you like them, other prefer very fantasy game with bright colors and very cartoon characters but AOC is different and awesome for its type. you will see it when it has 4 year out in the market, it will be just awesome

I used to LOVE Anarchy Online. When the news came out that they were going to focus on AoC, I was devastated.

If this much time and effort would have gone into making Anarchy Online 2, I’d still be one of their paid subscribers. There’s a huge death of space MMO games, and they had the opportunity to fill it, but instead went with yet another fantasy game.

Now would SOMEONE please do a decent space MMO? I’ll join!

I have been with AoC almost since launch. The improvements to the game have been many since then. I will say that I have taken a break from it over the past several weeks but that was mainly due to IRL stuff. Most of the comments that I have read have all been true, but I feel that the comments on not moving or takeing a step forward in the MMORPG world are incorrect. I have tried all sorts of MMO’s and for me I am not interested in playing nor can I get as absorbed in a game that looks like WOW. No offense to any that play it but realism that is to say graphically whether fantasy or reality based is what keeps me tuned into to AoC. The “Grind” that is part of most MMO’s I have played was eased considerably once I joined a guild which I now lead. That combined with the new and upcoming content makes AoC for me one of the top games I have ever played. Did Funcom make mistakes? You bet your Hyborian Arse they did, but they are making those changes. The DX10 has launched and graphically is even more stunning than before (but still has issues to be corrected). The addition of lvl 80 quests and areas has given a resurgence at least to my guild and also has inticed several of the original guild members that left for Warhammer and other game launches to renew accounts and start up again. There are several things on the horizon, too many to mention here but this game, it’s lore that it is based on and continual graphical and content additions for me make it one of the best games I have ever played….despite the kinks!

The many quest failures, and bugs have been corrected by what i can see – ive only managed to get to lvl 39 atm. and im still thrilled. Now all i need is to play pvp and ill be as happy as a puppy

I played everquest since Ruins of Kunark (1st expansion now there is 13) then quit for WoW, quit for EQ2. Quit for EQ. In the times Between i played just about every Free MMO and SWG and just a ton of games. For those who say this is the worst game ever, i just laughed. No you cannont solo everything, theres even “group” specific quests… You would know Post #17 if you acually Played the game instead of jerking off to the nudity in the game. I have told everyone and still will tell everyone to give it a try now that the Trial is out. I’ve invited 4 Trial players to our guild on SET and all 4 have purchased the game and are probably playing as i type this. GO TRY IT dont belive me, or anyone else…just belive it for yourself

I love to come to sites like these which has ppl basking in their own personal view of things.
I love to read about all the things they are displeased with on their purchase.
I cant remember how many bowls of popcorn I’ve emptyed from reading posts like these. Its pure entertainment

Funcom is now giving out free trials for people to try out the game and hopefully buy it afterwards if they like it. Its not some desperate attemp like some have said, its a marketing thing, like when you see a commercial on TV and want to buy it, but Funcom takes it one step further, you actually have the option to try it out first before you fork out the dollars.

I understand you want to warn people from doing that, since you made the ‘mistake’ of buying the game yourself. Why on earth cant you just let people decide for themselves if they want to play it or not.

AoC is far from dead and people take joy is bashing MMOs they know nothing about or actually played. I know numerous people that say bad thing about AoC and never actually played it!!! A friend of mine was bashing AoC because of what he ‘heard’, then actually played it after the recent changes and loves it!

AoC is the best MMO out there for several reasons and the initial launch issues are gone. AoC needs more content and positive changes ARE happening.
