Over a year ago Worlds.com sued NCsoft over patent infringement of their chat system in virtual worlds. This morning it was announced that a settlement has been reached and that the lawsuit has been dismissed.

The terms of the settlement are confidential but most likely include a licensing deal. The terms were probably favorable to NCsoft as Worlds.com lacked the resources for a long term fight.

Worlds.com has partnered with Pearson for Educational Worlds and appears to be trying to re-invent itself. Several licensing fees could be just what they need.
