Quake Live Open Beta has launched with a huge demand thanks to the feature exclusive of Online Massively Multiplayer. Most people did not attempt to play the game as we announced the launch but waited until the next day. They experienced repeated site downtime, server issues, browser issues, and long waits in the queue.
New Queue, CDN Improvements, & More Servers as Quake Live Struggles to Deal With Demand
Quake Live responded with a new queue code and system improvements as well as additional servers but continues to have issues with their Content Delivery Network. Traffic from Europe was very high and about 500 players per minute we allowed in. The forum and database had to be moved as queues stay around 9,000 to 10,000. Over 113,000 player accounts were created 6 hours after the launch. Further updates to follow.
