I wrote before that Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning reached 750,000 subscribers as claimed by Mythic and even at one point questioned is Warhammer Online: AoR better than WoW: Wrath of the Lich King? Well it now appears that decision has been made and the answer is no. And over 450,000 former Warhammer Online subscribers seem to agree by canceling their subscriptions. That is right, EA has reported that subscriptions to Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning have dropped to below 300,000.

In a post on their site, Mythic announced layoffs and then quickly mentioned new events, careers, areas, and a dedication to customer service. There are also fewer developers along with fewer customer support staff, QA, and testers, etc.

Maybe it is because Warhammer Online has lame events when compared to World of Warcraft. So in an attempt to boost paid subscriptions of WAR, Mythic announced that on February 5, 2009, Warhammer Online would be launching in Russia. A bit ironic selling WAR to country most famous for war.
