The Darkfall Online massively multiplayer online role playing game from Aventurine is really hurting. They have been pulling out all the stops trying to get more players paying their subscription fees.

Here is a list of some of the latest attempts.

Darkfall Online Trying Everything To Increase Subscriber Numbers:

1. New 7 Day Trial for $1. I am not sure why they thought they could not do a free trial but are instead offering a seven day trial for one dollar. There is also a referral fee commission paid to publishers in the hope of bringing in new players. You can sign up for the trial and download the game here

2. In an effort to try and protect new players from shameless gank attacks, a new patch ads a feature called New Player Protection. This feature offers protection against player attacks for the first few hours so they have a chance to learn how to control their character. During this time you can cause no damage except to monsters and no one can damage you. This protection is active in the starting areas only. Unfortunately it also prevents you from using mounts, runestones, teleporting, portals, creating a clan, joining a clan, etc.

3. Continually trying to improve the graphcis such as the weapons. New chain armor and new leather armor is currently being created as well.

4. Cheating has been a real problem in the game. Darkfall Online has a no tolerance policy on cheating and exploits. They strictly enforce these policies and have upgraded GM tools and their cheat detection system.
