I used to love Age of Empires and played all of the sequels. When I first saw Civony the first thing that struck me about this free to play web based game is that the little peasants looked and hammered up my buildings in a way similar to Age of Empires. I instantly loved the game. The second thing I noticed is that it ran very well in Google Chrome.
Civony is an online massively multiplayer game from Universal Multiplayer Game Entertainment or UMGE. The game is currently in Beta. There are 3 servers available. UMGE is a Chinese game development company.

Civony is a cool game, but with a lot of timed tasks running in many different sub-menus, which costs players a lot of time clicking to switch between GUIs and menus.
To try and solve solve that, I made this web application where users can easily enter all their timers and have a small alert play when count down reaches zero. It let’s me concentrate on other stuff, while Civony running in the background. The audio cues notify me when my attention is needed in the game.

I would comment about the game but haven’t had a chance to do much.Tried registering under the above email and the so called activation code didn’t come through. We don’t have spam and it wasn’t in junk mail. I then registered under jmas@hotmail.com and again nothing. Had trouble with computer so we downloaded Internet explorer 8. I tried again. I was told some other emporer has my above email amd to try again. I did this time with my second email address and yahoo in I go. BUT after going off line and then coming back to the game once again I’m denied access. Another emperor has my second email address. Would someone tell me what’s going on. Thank u and loved to have it sorted out. Don’t know if I like the game or not. Love to try.

I have heard from other players that Civony Online is giving them some problems as well not letting them login at times and other similar issues. It looks like there are still some kinks that need to be worked out in the game.

Well I have had some problems logging in but somehow managed to do so. This morning I get a screen telling me it is loading and at 100% but goes no further. Definitely, they need to do some major work in order to get this to run effectively. Also, I get notes from time to time telling me someone has accessed my account.

I have been playing this game for a couple of dyas. Now I can not even access the game. This is a major problem for me seeing that the Alliance I joined gave me 7 days to get my prestige up to par. If I can’t access the game, I can’t play the game. This sucks for new players trying to get a feel for the game. For me, it makes me less likely to visit your site if I can get to the game. Now all of my hard work over the last couple days will be lost.
What are you people doing about this? It says loading one minute, then you get a blank screen. I’ve read this from a few other people posting here so I am sure you know this is a very big problem. Thanks for your time.

How long has this game been out? I really enjoy it. Its fun to play a few minutes here and there through out the day. Reminds me a little of mafia wars on myspace but with graphics.

i think the prices for cents and stuff are way to high i have been playing for a couple of weeks now and find it very fun even though it takes a long time to reach higher lvled buildings which sucks
also i was reading other comments and until today i have had a very easy time logging on until today once i click log in it gives me the background of civony but no pictures which is making me mad because i have been getting attacked and i need to upgrade and get rid of my resources as fast as i can so he doesnt steal anything

It does say it is in Beta so don’t be to uppity when there are problems. That’s what happens in beta there are issues to be worked out.

If its still in Beta, they shouldn’t be charging for cents, they should just let it flow through to work out the bugs. OR at the very least charge less.
I had been enjoying the game alot barring the massive lag issues. I signed up using firefox and it worked fine for a few days, then refused to let me in. I switched to IE *shudder* and it worked ok in there. Now it point blank refuses to work in either. It does the 100% loading thing, then just sits at a blank brown screen with status bar showing ‘done’.
I have actually paid for cents a number of times as i was keen to see the game’s progression. As a result i’m possibly more annoyed than most
The game will also randomly disconnect people (presumed lag), but they may not notice for some time as you can still click around your cities, but simply see no live text in the relevant screens (i.e. market, research etc).
On another note, i filed a bug report the other day regarding the loss of all current (within 10days) mails. As a diplomatic player, i could not retrieve any of the new mails the game indicated were waiting, nor could i refer back to the existing ones. Whilst other players suffered the same, there was no warning or even acknowledgement from the developers.
IF it comes back i’ll take a more lethargic approach to the game, but i’ve made a mental note to avoid future games from the same base.

i really like this game but it has given me so many problems. I only joined a few daays ago now i can’t log in. I no loads of people hav sent u the same message so its about time u do something about it. unless it is fixed soon i will never play it or any other game from this website.

Civony is Not a bad game concept, But most likely wont be running much longer with the massive copy right infrigments, anyway in an attempt to make even more money before someone closes them down. They have changed the medals you need for promotions, to almost impossible to get, but u can buy some at the store and might get what you need. In the highest Price Per Item of any Free online game. Its a total rip off of many other games besides AOE. The Player Charactor Faces are straight out of Pool Of Raidiance. lol they didnt even attemp to change them. They did do more in there latest update to make the wall not look totally like AOE’s I assume Microsoft was on there backs..Thats some of my 2cents what’s yours

This is a hugely popular, heavily advertised new game from a Chinese Company expanding into online games in a big way. Nearly all the problems people report here are the CIVONY servers being overloaded.
They have borrowed heavily from other games. If you have problems getting on try again in a few minutes.

Once u register n all and the game starts u just bookmark that page…..
so next tym u open it it will load n then u will be logged in ur account straight away……and ur game would start from where u left…….of course ur resources would hav increased by then accordingly……..its workin 4 try!

The bookmark idea is great but what if you already closed the browser. You can’t log in, they only prompt you to register again. Does anyone know how to log back in once you have already registered and closed teh browser and DID NOT bookmark the page? Sort of gay, the game was decent enough. Although the developers should have kept EVERYTHING free. I hope someone comes up with this game idea, but everything is free + no log in problems. That is the game for me.
