um, well with the new expansion with the release of runescape HD, there are many new games and thing to do. I am a runescape supporter and i think people are judging runescape to harshly. Its not that bad of a game and gives a variety of things to do unlike the other games that focus on combat. U could do combat, then do some skilling, then go pk/pvp, then do some minigames, then maybe explore, and do some activities like clan wars. I agree that runescape is too member based, but it has many non member things, too. I dont care what all you other noobs are saying about runescape because many people like it, just dont go on these lists as much as runescape dislikers who have no life and insult a game cause theyre bored.

i wonder why is there no lotro? guess it’s just outdated list or something, and the thing that you must still unlock content should not be a problem because the story and detail is far better than in many of those games here. graphics are pretty amazing and it realy deserves a place here

im gonna have to say that Maplestory Should replace runescape! Runscape can smd. Need to pay max your level and its a click base game. BTW who cares if ms is supposed to be downloaded its worth the wait. so maplestory for eva!

Ok listen pls, someone lol. I am one of the minoroty females that are actually into mmorpgs, YES. Ok, ive been sifting thru these sites for 2 months trying out dif games and i cant seem to find my nitch like i found in wow. PLS dont yell at me since wow is PAID- im just referencing I havent found a good game to get addicted to (bc agree, u love playing for 8 hrs n it only feeling like 2 lulz), and i would PLS like some help finding a new FREE mmorpg. Ive tried, LOTRO, rOm, PWI, forsaken world, DDO… yeah, so can someone pls help a girly out here? PLS??? Thank ya’ll. forsaken world is currently in open beta and it is the shit, I would place it better then some p2p mmo’s and as for the ” runescape” debate bleh tbh runescape was a good game and its still fun for kids to play but it holds no interest for players who have been there a long time.

They know the game Requiem Memento Mori? No, they’re missing. No need to forge anything, does not collect material and a recommended game for 17 years or more. (mature game). excellent graphics and gameplay, with latest update on recent February 23, 2011, and the best you need not spend any U.S. dollar to stay strong in the game, but has item shop if you want to buy. You are hoping? like blood and dismemberment in combat? then just access and good game.

I would just like to say I hated RoM… and I have started to hate Runesape but Runescape I have played for 6 years. It was a great game and still is to some people, so people don’t agree about it what does it matter, this was one person’s top 10, doesn’t mean they think everyone should sit there and say ‘You know what, they’re right, I’mma quit what I’m playing and go play RoM!’ it just shows that it’s their favourite, a game they are recommending to you. I am currently playing WoW… well I was. I only play games for a few months or so, Runescape is the game I’ve played the most. Besides CoD but that doesn’t matter. Anyway, sit down, grab a cuppa tea and read the lists, until you find a game that’s right for you.

ok, let me say that all those people who think runescape is a terrible game are probably those who only played a week or so, am i right? sure, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but in order to really appreciate runescape, you have to explore a little more. level up (a lot), make some cool friends, pwn some noobs, go questing, etc. you cant just play the game for a week and give up at level 3 and say that it sucks.

I’ve played my fare share of MMO’s, runescape and runes of magic among them. Runescape, back in the day (I was a sophomore in high school when it came out.) Was both fun and a good way to waste time in class. Than it got monotonous. My personal issue with the game is that over half the fan base talks like a bunch of illiterate 10 y/o’s. And that it got mind numbingly boring.

Same can be said of RoM, I reigned hell on the second pvp server for months. But again, became monotonous and boring. Updates take forever, buggy, and to do any real damage, you need to spend money (alot more than a monthly sub would be.) Still, they both have a place in my heart, and I log in for the sale of nostalgia.

runescape is a fun game well most of the tym but it is an ok game and as for the ppl who get bored with it easily tat shows tat you ppl just arnt patient or dont lyk a challenge because the longer you play runescape the more fun it gets and more complicated sure it gets boring once in awhile but then agen so does evry other games ive been playin rs for quiet awhile now and ive also quit it a few tyms and i can tell you tat game can be addicting if you kno wat your doin so dont b h8in or critizing runescape especially if uve only played for an hour cuz u cant really learn much in an hour especially in a game lyk runescape.

@Disdaddy453, I am not sure what you mean by “into this” but I have been playing MMOs for a while. I have been playing with the same group of friends for almost 8 years now, so if you consider that sad, whatever dude.

@Nash, players and registered users are two different things. Maplestory boasts some rediculas amount of registered accounts even though 80% of those accounts are unused. Never go by “number of registered accounts” because it will lead you a stray. I would suggest trying a few out and figuring which best suits your playstyle. Runes of Magic is pretty fun, but the company that runs it is a bunch of morons. The game is buggy as all hell too. But, its got a lot of features, and the parts that work are pretty fun.

Another MMO that should be on this list (even though its a bit grindy) would be Allods at Gpotato. Its pretty solid.

Stop looking at the graphics just play it a little bit then get member and you will understand why so many people like it. But Jagex fucked the game so yea I agree that runescape sucks now but before it was so nice with old graphics, real pking and all the other good things Jagex removed.

you guys are all gay for talking about rune-scape for so long. completely diverted from topic. there are too many free mmo’s out these days to have a top 10 list. its all a matter of perception and opinion anyways. Why not make a list of great mmo’s currently out, give your own unbiased opinion and review, rather than showing favor, cuz there will always be haters hating on your opinion.Did I mention I hated Rune scape from the beginning? (just my opinion. All you RS lovers calm down, what difference to you does it make if I think you like it up the butt? you dont know me anyways.)

I really liked RoM…actually, I still like it. I’ve since recently started playing DDO, and I immediately joined a great clan who Vent all the time, so I’m pleased with the community, and I’m digging the game.

I do think Silk Road should have been on this list…it’s a no-brainer for me. If you’re going by ‘popularity’ I can see why Runescape is on the list…but honestly, it just doesn’t even come close to the production value and entertainment of all the recent free MMOs.
