We at Online Massively Multiplayer.com have received over 160 (one hundred and sixty) comments complaining about the Runes of Magic download, installation, and patch process. The Runes of Magic download and patch process sucks. It is painfully slow and a source of frustration and anger for many who want to play the otherwise great free-to-play Runes of Magic MMORPG.
In fact, Runes of Magic is our #1 Top 10 Free MMORPG. But the upgrading and patching process is particularly terrible. Your potential solution of using BitRaider Streaming has not been implemented and does not fix the overall problem. You are loosing customers and turning away willing gamers with this horrible failure of a process.
It looks like the best solution at this point is for users to buy a premium subscription to FilePlanet to speed up the download process which kind of defeats the purpose of a Free MMORPG doesn’t it?.
Your players are actually turning to torrents, file sharing, and download sites and many of these are being infected with viruses and trojans. This is a great disservice to them. One gamer commented: “yeah def lol cause 15 hrs is a long time to just sit there watching something download i didn’t do it and i would never do it. This site is very friendly helped although i am done with my issue i like stopping by just to say and try to help others. Whatever you guys do, do not go to torrentdownloads.com i got 2 viruses and 3 trojan horse agent cx. which were a pain in the ass had to redo hard drive an reinstall everything again but luckily the 2nd time it went by pretty fast. Hope i am not to late for anyone Happy Gaming”.

“I’ve spent an afternoon longer then I would like downloading this, for a 3.4gig file it went suprisingly fast, that’s not my issue, Like hundreds of others, I had CRC problems with the rar, and numerous Retry Abort Ignore messages with the 4 part file. Seems to me like Frogster is just some small time company who clearly has no experience with gamers, You’d think such sever problems they have been having since it’s release would have been fixed by now? no. They simply don’t care and would rather point the finger at you, the user, instead of their crap programmers. I will now delete my ROM file that now after hours of fixing, I finnaly got it patched and ready to go, just crashes abnormally, Ironic how I can play any game out there to date, but not this one. Frogster, I hope one of you eventually see’s this post and does something about it, realize your errors. For now i’ll go back and play EQ 2, A company who will bend over backwards for you, Sony. Small time companies like Frog will never get big with crap like this happening. P.S: Sorry to sound like a rant, but it is, quite upset about this wasting my bandwidth 3 times now, and numerous hours I wont get back.”

“The game is not bad for free BUT you could spend a large part of your time just trying to get the game to run with downloading, updating and patching. Frogster don’t even bother put the latest binaries up on their site – so if you spend hours to download the binaries you have to spend hours again to patch them. They just released new content- Elven Prophecies – but they still have the old binaries for download. Go figure. Sheer mismanagement, after all I’m sure they don’t get server bandwidth for free, so this has to be increasing their costs, and driving away would be players. You can probably find many other FREE games out there that are just as good or even better, and do not have this problem. My advice is to spend your time on some other game. After all you could probably download 2-3 other free games in the time it takes to download Runes of Magic, patch, retry patching and downloading again from scratch (if something goes wrong – which does seem to happen since the game doesn’t appear to do enough validation).

Hey, please speed up the download. I have downloaded it scense yesterday afternoon, and the whole night. which is like 18 hours. Please fix this problem, its really annoying.!!!

I seriously wanted to play this game, this is my first experience ever in the gaming world and what happens i waste a whole day waiting for it to download being patient then it downloads only to find that it won’t start i started at 3pm it finished at 10:30pm and now i am downloading another game looks just as good and guess what time remaining 26 min. so seriously get your crap together.

Another note: The Patcher is a gigantic PoS!! You need to have 3Gb extra disc space because the crummy thing makes a copy of every .fdb file before it patches it and then merges old and new. That’s a frakking waste of disk space!!

I downloaded the whole thing 2 times, kept restarting the RoMUpdate, and it gets stuck like this

u guys are right im having the same problem where the client and updating are both stuck at each 100% and 80% i’ve left it on since last night and this is all i got so far. this reeally makes runes of magic lose a hell of a lot of players i think. because it’s probably going to take the same time it would to go from USA to china and by the time u come back it would probably be on 98% -_-, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS !!! RoM CREATORS !!

this is rediculus!!!! 4 the past 48 hrs no downloading was 20-26 hrs, and for 22 hrs it has been what installing? it’s like MD5 OK below it it stays at 79% and it starts all over again. once the progam update got to 100% but the dl was 88%. this is killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do I have the right version? says Runes of Magic 3.0.5.2262 US-L3… also it is at 25.2% and 1 day,6hours, and 48minutes left. That is way too long! I started downloading it yesterday too and left computer on overnight. I started downloading Perfect World earlier today and it is much faster, it took 3 hours to get to 97%. I hope one of them works…

Im new and i was really excited but it was stuck on 100% and 80% and then a update pops up once its done it closes and the cycle starts all over please fix this
