MMORPG.com Names AoC Most Improved of 2009 – Cause They’re a Sponsor

We have written frequently about the Age of Conan massively multiplayer online role playing game. Interest in the game has been on the decline and Funcom recently layed off 20% of their Staff.

That is why we were a little bit surprised to see that MMORPG.com named Age of Conan the most improved game of 2009. Really? I wonder why? Maybe it is because AoC is a sponsor and you can see a huge flash movie ad on the page. Maybe the editorial staff should try to be a little bit more upfront about their disclosure. Check out the screenshot:

Going by this logic, DDO or LOTRO should have one the award. Between those two games Turbine has many more ads running on mmorpg.com than AOC. So, Turbine should have been able to pick which one of their games won the award if we’re going by the logic of who bought the most ads for games not launched in 2009.
