It looks like the Champions Online MMORPG has been delayed from it’s July 14, 2009 launch date.
Cryptic Studios announced that the massively multiplayer online role playing game will not be launched until September 1, 2009.
This comes from feedback from beta testers that the game is simply not ready.
Delaying the Launch? You Aren’t Even in Open Beta Yet
Frankly this disappoints me and bodes poorly for the game. I mean, Champions Online is not even in open beta yet. Why not start the open beta and then hold it for an extra long time announcing the delayed launch later?
Maybe Champions Online Shouldn’t Spend So Much Time on Swinging and Tunneling Travel?
Maybe Cryptic should not spend so much time on tunneling and swinging as forms of travel in Champions Online. LOL I mean, swinging is cool but the tunneling in the below high definition video looks like something out of a Bugs Bunny Cartoon…..

releasing a game too early can be a very bad idea. Take Age of Conan for example. It was released with crippling memory leaks and bugs, and a lack of content in the later game that drove away all of it’s subscribers. I would rather see them take as much time as they need to make a stable, fun, and polished game rather than release another AoC.
