We have written before about the Heroes of Newerth massively multiplayer online role playing game.

During the open beta the Heroes of Newerth MMORPG was free to play and had over 2 million subscribers.

The HoN MMORPG from S2 Games launched today May 12, 2010 at 4:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. In order to continue playing, the 2 million beta participants much purchase the game for $30. There will be no monthly subscription fees. More content including heroes, items, maps, and features will be included in the launch.

The launch will include contests with over $5,000 in prises and a HoN World Cup with a $40,000 prize pool. Download the 360 MB game client for Windows, Mac, or Linux.
