It was a major dissapointment when NetDevil delayed Jumpgate Evolution. I personally think it was a bad move given the competition from Black Prophecy and Eve Online and other similar space sci-fi massively multiplayer online role playing games.
It now appears that one of the major reasons was that NetDevil wanted to change the way the virtual economy worked in the Jumpgate Evolution MMORPG. Producer Hermann Peterscheck said that they wanted to move “..away from an AI-based economy to a player-driven economy”. Of course this is only one of the major changes and fixes. I was actually more surprised that the delay did not center more on a major graphics overhaul. It would be nice if Jumpgate Evolution updated their web site a little bit more often with some more information. The closed beta has not yet begun with no testing schedule even announced. This means your guess is as good as mine when the game will launch although NetDevil is still claiming by the end of 2009.
