SWTOR Release Date Delayed Until Spring 2011 – Running Scared From Star Trek Online

We have written many times about the Star Wars The Old Republic massively multiplayer online role playing game.

Yesterday we received confirmation that the SWTOR MMORPG release date will be delayed from October 2010 until the Spring of 2011. This is not a good sign. Is this because the Star Trek Online MMORPG is already way ahead of the game with a release date of February 2, 2010? Yes. Fear of the competition and the same target audience.

Hopefully BioWare and LucasArts will use the delay to improve the terrible graphics of SWTOR.

Check out the below high defitition trailer.

    Star Trek online is a shitty online game trying to compete with star wars, star wars has not fear from shit trek. Star wars will have fully voice dialog, millions of star wars fans, and awesome graphics, star trek will suck ass.

    STO sucks , ccombat is like wow or anby game , hit then other person hits , then opponent hits and etc swtor has alot of things to do like grenades , airstrikes , and mele vs mele is diffrent , sowrds clash together , its fast paced , and the force is used too , what im tryng to say is that STO will be just like any other mmo , only a scifi with ok graphics and swtor will be a completely diffrent mmorpg , its just take about 5 months more , wow…

    STO? Competition? Last time I checked there has been a long-time rivalry between ST/SW fans dating back to the 70′s. A rivalry that makes many red-faced and livid might I add. It’s a stretch of the imagination for a handful of fans from one particular group to even dabble in the others universe let alone cause real competition.

    Cataclysm is going to suck hard. They scrapped the entire new promised character customization from the expansion making the new crafting profession suck at the same time. Lame.

    I’m excited about SW: TOR and (not asking about opinions about my opinion) not sure if i want to continue WOW cause this game looks pretty sweet. One thing though is if you have to pay for SW: TOR like WOW, if you do, am not happy of what the cost MIGHT cost

    First of all Star Trek online is a terrible game period. Second, the graphics DO NOT determine whether a game is good or not (example: World of Warcraft, Star Wars KOTOR, Diablo etc.) Also i do not want to here another damn complaint about it should be KOTOR 3 and not an mmo. Fact: This game will feature more content and lore than any other Bioware game combined. The reason they are taking so long in making the game… well that should be obvious. WoW is gonna have some serious competition.

    It comes out on March 25th of 2011 now. More time to wait :S

    So long as they keep improving the game in the time i don’t mind so long as it will be more of an experience for us to play. I hope they will improve the graphics vastly but if they don’t fair enough because just look at world of warcraft, its done well enough with bad graphics for this time and age.

    I look forward to the game coming out. I’m afraid to say that most MMO’s haven’t touched WoW. I don’t play WoW but everyone always says that this “next” MMO will ruin WoW and it hasn’t yet happened. I believe WoW is a first door for those entering the MMO world so it will probably be around for some time. Saything that I played wow for a trail period and was bored, so I hope SWTOR is nothing like it and will be in line to purchase it when it comes out!

    As for STO? I neither know nor care. I love the movies and television shows but unless the MMO had it so I could shoot Captain Kirk over and over in the head then I’m not interested xD

    STO is crap and I seriously doubt anyone at Bioware is worried about any competition from it. Bioware delays games sometimes, it’s not that suprising, but it’s alright when they do because unlike Vanguard, DDO, Lord of the Rings and countless others they actually come out with polished games. I figure if they delay the release it just means they wanna make sure it’s finished, and who’s gonna complain about that?

    I’d also like to point out that most MMOs aren’t all that impressive graphically, it allows for a larger target audience. Less impressive graphics means less processing power for expansive areas, and therefore people don’t have to have the best PC on the market to play.

    @Seth
    Thats just an excuse to make games that look bad……
