Well it finally happened. LucasArts has officially announced Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG.

Players will have companion characters and have a new look from the Knights of the Old Republic KOTOR. You will be able to play as one of many classes including Jedi or Sith.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic massively multiplayer online game will be PC based. It is being developed by BioWare. The game will take place thousands of years before Darth Vader and a long battle between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire rages.

The official web site is SWTOR.com The beta test has not yet been announced nor has the release date.
