We wrote earlier that the Video Game Industry has recovered from the Recession and the MMORPG Industry was putting up some huge numbers. The NPD Group today released numbers that the Video Game Industry as a whole has seen a 6% increase in March from the same time last year. This contrasts a 14 percent decrease in February.

In March sales equaled $1.52 billion up 6% from $1.44 billion. Nintendo Wii sold 557,500 consoles and 700,000 DS handheld units in March compared to 338,400 and 313,900 for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3.

God of War 3 was the top title with 1.1 million units sold in March.
